I use what ever I have on hand. I used to have an alteration shop, so I have every kind of thread there is. It sews it all. I have quilted several differnt size quilts.

Lately, there have been some nice machines on TN Craigslist. I picked up a barely used Pfaff Tipmatic for 125.00 a week ago. If you know the store, and they know the machine, you should be OK if everything looks good with it at the sellers home.

Honestly, that price is not too good to be true. It's about what it's worth for an older machine. It's not a steal, by any means, but a decent price if it has lots of goodies with it. I have the 9000, which is about 13 years old. Any machine that's 10 years old is not worth near its original value...

Hubby is seriously thinking about letting me get it! I hope she sends me some pictures tomorrow so I can get a look at it. I will also ask for a list of what she has; she states she has everything that she got with it.
And Candace, why is it not priced well? Every site I have been to, ebay included, has it for $2,000. I haven't found anything less than that, minus this ad.

Because it uses outdated technology. It takes memory cards and doesn't have a USB port or computer connectivity. Just because it's listed on ebay for $2,000 doesn't mean that's what it's worth. My 9000 is probably only worth about $500-$600 on a good day and I paid $3,200 for it 13 years ago. This model is about 5 models old...so although they are great machines the listed CL price is not a steal. But, it's a decent price. The ones listed on CL are brand new, which is different. They are still being sold as new machines even though the technology is not "new".

Ha ha, we were posting at the same time.
Ok, I just re-read your post Candace. I see your point now. She did pay $880 for 2 years ago. The store I called today about servicing has some machines for sale, used machines, so I might go look. She said they had a smaller Janome, a Brother, Elan (sp?), and Pfaff.
