Default Jenny Doan retreat and patterns

http://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/...rt-form-n37786

Went to my retreat with Jenny Doan this past weekend! What a wonderful lady. She is just like she is on TV. Her patterns are so simple to do. We started Grand Old Flag, Ingrid's Garden, and Periwinkle, all from three of the five magazines she had with F&P. We also (ahem!!) made the NBC National News on Monday evening! She had been interviewed earlier, but they needed more footage. We were the group at Needle in a Haystack. Never thought this mug would be on the National News, but there I am in the background, twice. Link to the news clip is above. Took a while how to figure out how to get it on here.

I really do envy you. And, am glad you could go to the retreat and all. Wish you had posted pictures of your retreat projects.

Ali, I'll have to take some as I progress on these projects! I don't know why I didn't take any pictures while I was there!

I saw that footage on the nightly news. How wonderful that she was featured on national television!! I live in SW Missouri and one of my goals is to make the trip to Hamilton and visit Jenny's shop.

Calla - your will have to get out of your quilt room. I thought everyone knew about Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Really I am very happy for her - however I have a little bone to pick, they think you can make a quilt in a day! I don't know anyone who could get it done (cutting, piecing, guilting and binding) unless maybe it was a crib quilt!

I liked it when she said they are the McDonald's of the quilt world. I think that's pretty accurate. I'm glad that quilting is getting the national publicity, and happy that Jenny's company is doing well, and I do enjoy her videos because they're fun. But really she is just one in a line of many teachers, innovators, and designers who have brought us more modern quilting methods. The piece makes it sound like quilting was back in the dark ages before Jenny came along.

I love Jenny and I think the main "draw" for her popularity is that she makes most of her tutorials simple for those of us who haven't been quilting very long. I am glad you got to go to her retreat and I'd get your autograph if I was closer!! LOL
