The joy of a real sewing table

Today I took delivery of a Sew-Ezi sewing table (no affiliations) and wow what a difference it makes to have the machine at the 'right' height with a wide level sewing space. Fortuitously the table is the same height as my work table which it abuts, so now I have a huge surface to support my quilts. I spent all afternoon practicing FMQ, which I have never done before and I had a blast! My results weren't great but I figure it's like playing the piano - gotta practice before it sounds/looks good. And my back isn't killing me tonight. Usually after a lengthy sewing session I spend the evening rolling my shoulders trying to work out the kinks.

AND this morning I pieced a backing for my quilt-in-progress using John Flynn's diagonal seam method. And it worked.

Today was a good day. A very good day.

Just had to share with 'someone' who might understand my joy.

I'm there with you. It is so much more comfortable sewing when your machine is at the right height. I also have the sew-ezi table and LOVE it!

Congratulations on success with the new table. Sounds like it is time to post a picture! It is always nice when a purchase is a sound one that makes your sewing easier and more comfortable. It is NOT fun to have to work kinks out of your body after a marathon sewing session! Enjoy your new set up!

I love my sew ezi. I've had it for several years now. I bought it to take to quilting retreats but now have it set up in my studio. Here's a photo when I first moved my equipment into the room.

I don't understand anyone sewing at a dining room table or desk and not having a proper sewing table or cabinet. To me buying a sewing machine without a table to go with it doesn't make any sense. Making do is for groceries and clothes. Equipment use is no place to cut corners without some consequence.

I'm in the middle of redoing my studio; it has occurred to me that ordering about six of those tables would probably work better and cost a whole lot less...h-m-m-m-m....

What is that on the right of your sewing table? Is that a rectangular ironing board?

It's a folding table I bought at costco. It has different settings so you can set the height. I take it to retreats with me - it fits a 24 x 36 cutting mat or one of those ironing boards. So handy
