Juki TL98E Help
#2
I think your machine is basically the same as the Pfaff Grand Quilter. You might find that you cant actually drop the feed dogs - you have to cover them with a special plate that comes with your machine.
Not sure if this will help but hope you sort your problem out.

they are supposed to stay down. sometimes, a tiny bit of thread gets stuck. look carefully, maybe with a magnifier. also try oiling it. if all else fails, i'm afraid a trip to the repair shop may be in order.

Thanks everyone for the advice, but I took to shop and something is frozen which is stopping the feed dogs from dropping. He assured me it can be repaired, so I left with him to service and get it tip top shape. I just set up the B-line frame with this machine from my dear SIL and have 5 tops that need quilting.

Sandraa - I too am having the same issue - feed dogs will not drop on my Juki TL 98e. I have used it on a frame for quilting for several years and suddenly the stitches on the backside of my quilt were a mess. I finally took the machine off the frame cleaned and oiled and did some test sewing. It sews perfectly except -- the feed dogs won't go back down. I recently moved to rural Alabama and am not aware of any Juki dealers in this area. I would love to talk to your repair person. If you would let me know how to contact him I would greatly appreciate it. Any others suggestions are appreciated. - Alice

I just got brave and opened up the bottom of my Juki and flipped the feed dog lever to see what was going on, oiled the moving parts and it's working great now. Anyone know if there is any other way to clean and oil this part of the machine? Guess that's probably part of a regular machine maintenance - however I don't know anyone in this area that services Juki machines. I'm a very happy quilter again!
