Mine must be related to yours. They all hide the instant I look away.

I keep my pins in a small tin next to my machine, so I just keep my seam ripper in the tin also. When I travel to a class or retreat, I just keep the seam ripper in the pin tin and I always know where to find it.

What a great idea. I have a favorite and I am always losing it. Lately it has been in my hand a lot. I have been meandering a bay quilt that has to be done for this Sat. and this is the 5th time I am ripping. Very frustrated right now. I need to slow down because I am doing it to myself by trying to hurry.

    Great tip, Thanks.

I think my seam rippers have grown legs & walk away as soon as I sit them down.

I don't waste time looking for my seam ripper any more. I know it's somewhere. I have a basket of sewing tools I lose and find and I rather go get one out of the basket then look for the one that is somewhere. When I do gather up the missing rippers, scissors, etc I toss them in the basket and start all over. There are 9 rippers in the basket now.

Sounds like a great idea. I've never seen the yellow stuff of which you speak. I just keep mine in the same place all the time. As long as I put it back in it's place it will always be where I need it when I need it. And if not, I always have others as backups.
