Rice with Potpourri. It smells wonderful after heated, I've had mine for about 4 years now. Works great! Lavender is good as it helps you sleep with the aroma. Just make a removable covering for washing.

I wouldn't use kitty litter because of the dust.

I buy the bags of Deer Corn,,,or if you know someone who has a leftover field of dried field corn...rice ..beans...and all the above except for the plastic pellets and kitty litter...that does't sound like a good idea..just saying.....

No corn, you'd have popcorn if put in the microwave? LOL. How about regular old lentils or smaller beans.

I used kitty litter once (many moons ago) and it leaked dust. May be better today and the fab I used may have been too big a weave.

Just Google 'buckwheat hulls'. Yes, they hold the heat well and being angular, don't shift so much.
My bad. NOT HULLS. Buckwheat groats (seeds). Sorry for the confusion.

Have had a heating pillow with "deer corn" in it with a seprate
case, was given to me 4 yrs. ago, been using it a lot lately,
no smell that I can tell. saw it for 40lbs. 5.95 and that wasn't
on a special sale either. Very frugal. Helps a lot.
