I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday, so took a look at their Kona. It shows Robert Kaufman on the cardboard bolt (where it shows the price, etc.). Whew! I've been purchasing that for Quilts of Valor quilts...so glad it's the "real deal"!

I, too, miss Hancock's! We have a Joanne's which took over the old Hancock's building. I am going this week to check it out, but I am not enthusiastic about it, but all our fabric shops have closed in our area. Long commute to the closest one.

Kona Fabrics and Robert Kaufman Fabrics
Read post #32 by Robert Kaufman.
Does the end of the bolt say "Kaufman Kona Cotton"?

Kona cotton is a registered trademark of Robert Kaufman fabrics. No one else can use it. If it is fabric and it says Kona, it's Kaufman.
Kona and Kona Bay are not the same brand. Kona Bay has to (or had to if they are now out of business) add the word, "Bay" to make it not be a trademark infringement. They had to use the whole phrase, "Kona Bay" on all their fabric products. You can call your coffee, Kona Coffee, you can call your pineapple, Kona Pineapple, but you cannot call your fabric Kona. It is a trademark of Robert Kaufman and only he can use it.

[QUOTE=slbram17;7878106]I have ordered several yards lately from Joanns...one was their premium quilt fabric line at 60 percent off. Very nice fabric. My latest was their Cozy Solid Flannels. I bought eight yards for about 17 dollars (U.S.) (included tax). I expected a lot of pilling but surprisingly, they washed up great...very little pilling, and the prettiest colors./QUOTE]
Joann's has really stepped up their "premium" fabric selection. I have bought the "Buttercream" brand and it was really nice quality. I even notice that they are offering a "premium" flannel now too, but have not bought any of it.

Yes, I am happy with the fabric I have purchased lately. My latest is the PUL fabric which I plan to use for pet beds for the animal shelter. It was on sale for fifty percent off, and then I was able to get another twenty percent off the entire purchase. I checked fabric com and it was about four dollars more a yard, so I was happy to get it, order online, free pickup.
