Why doesn't some company reproduce this fabulous machine? Everyone loves them so much. I wonder how much they would have to charge in order to make money on a FW-like machine, and how much we would be willing to pay for it.
Just my thoughts. I would certainly love to buy even a new one.

I would love to have a Featherweight also, they are hard to find,I found one last year at a local antique store but didn't have $200.00 and was in excellent condition
hopefully I can find one of them
I wish a Company would make them again

The reproductions are of very poor quality from all that I have been told. The featherweight fanatics discussion group has alot of info on the subject. I have not seen one or sewed on one so I cannot say this from personal experience. I have been lucky enough to own about 10 featherweights in various condition at this time. I have re-painted some with new decals, serviced them and sold about 8 to other quilters.
I love featherweight so much I have become a "featherweight fanatic" Should I decide to thin out my collection I will list them here lst.

My sewing machine repairman has the reproduction featherweight and as far as I can see by looking at it side by side with an original featherweight the only difference is the singer name. Rick explained to me that singer sold the rights to the featherweight machine to this company and he actually advised me to buy the reproduction so I could have the warranty, but if I'm going to have a featherweight I want an original. :) :) That's just me, though Rick assured me there is absolutely NO difference in the quality of the machines. I don't own either one but do have dreams of "someday" I will be more than happy to give anyone who wants Rick's number so you can call him yourself, just ask.

[quote=sueisallaboutquilts]I wouldn't buy a repro for 2 reasons:
1. Singer doesn't own the company anymore
2. The original is un-reproduceable (in my op hahaha) How can you reproduce charm and history???

NO, I think the number one reason I would not buy one is the well known fact that almost everything is now made in China, and I keep hearing of all the cheap materials they put in their stuff, even including melamine in BABY MILK!! that killed even many Chinese infants. And lots of their stuff has been recalled, yet more and more is being imported.
No, I want Granny's old metal machine or else a new one that is frankly new.
