I was wonder what does everyone do with left over material that is too small to use any
more?
I know my mother donates it to a person that uses it to make beds for animals and uses it for stuffing.

You are asking about scraps. How small is too small to keep is a perennial question. Depends how much you like to piece. Some folks keep everything, no matter how small, some have a 2" square limit etc. Go to Bonnie Hunter's site for inspiration:

Thrift places such as Goodwill or Salvation Army will accept scraps too small to use for quilting. They are sold to recycling companies. I verified this with the local stores, so you may want to check with the thrift stores first before donating.
