Looking for info. from you wonderful people. I have seen, now and then, that someone is having a machine "stretched". I have an idea what it might mean but want to know, for sure. I have a Juki for a frame, do you know if it could be Stretched and about what it costs to have it done. Thanks, Mary

I've seen a regular machine made into a stretched machine and it was butt ugly. I don't know if the stretcher cared about how it looked or only that it was stretched. I have the Brother 1500 and it has a roomy throat space. It is used on quilting frames. The reach from the needle to the right of the machine is the throat space and the longer it is the more quilting stitching reach you have on a frame.

I believe the "Bailey" machine is a stretch machine and they are very reasonably priced and I believe have a good reputation. When I have room and money, that's what I'm going for.

Yes the juki can be stretched, http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-50314-1.htm There is a link with a picture of one. I have read that Rick at WOW charges a little less than 2000 and he will move the needle up/down and the thread cutter buttons to the front of the machine! You would go from having a 9" throat (with your juki as is) to having about 18" of space after it was stretched. If you don't already have one you would need a frame that would accommodate an 18" machine.

Just my humble opinion, but if you were going to pay that much, spend $400 more and get a 17" Bailey. Then keep your Juki for peicing. That is what I did and SO happy with all. I absolutely love both machines.
