i was told many years ago that the secrete to the Q Snap is the ridges on the inside of the pipe. That is what holds the top pipe in place.

The QSnaps are available (28 x 39 inches) at quilting-warehouse.com on sale now for $64.99 complete with the carrying case. I have tried to 'jury rig' clamps on my homemade one, but find they just do not hold securely enough. So that's what my birthday gift is this year 'from me to me'

I called my son and husband to get their ideas ( we gotta help each other out you know) - my son suggested a C clamp and of course, you would want to put something in between the quilt and the clamp. So there's another idea for you

What a great job he did! Plus all the savings he got from doing it himself.

I found that using the slip proof material, sometimes you can find it for under throw rugs. :):):)

Get a piece of pvc that is larger in the inside diameter than the pvc that you used in the outside diameter of your frame and allow for quilt thickest. Cut several pieces six or eight inches long and then cut out a lengthwise slot where you can forced the new pipe over the quilt and grip the pvc on your frame. You need to cut a lengthwise slot just large enough to be able to forced the new pipe over the frame pvc with the quilt in place. If you cut this pvc in half, it will not grip. The cut out slot has to be smaller than half of the new pvc. You may have to play with it a little to get it where it is easy to slide over the quilt and partial over your frame pvc. This will hold the quilt securely. I hope that I have explained so that you can understand my instructions. Please let me know if this helps
