A rail fence is gender neutral, and pretty easy yo do.

Yeah, sorry about that!! I thought about it after I sent it. Notice I DID say old-ER, not old. tee hee. Yeah, I guess I'm a youngster at 40.

The pattern on the bird fabric I have is a bit larger, so I'd probably need a larger area in the quilt design. It has a brown "manly" background. Keep the ideas coming - I really appreciate them!

I had already been thinking of an assortment of plant/flower fabrics put together. There's lots that are garden like and not ultra-feminine.

One that I like to see is a focus fabric with log cabins around it to frame it up. And additional log cabins added to make a combo pattern. There was a beautiful one posted not so long ago by one of our posters!

Oooooh, I love this trellis pattern! Any idea where I could find it? It would give me a lot of room to display the birds, and maybe I could put a pine cone border around it to frame it, and two contrasting more neutral colors.

    Still thinking...
Or, you could use the trellis effect around any focus fabric that I did with this quilt. Right colours, still would be quite he-man!!!

I think Warm Wishes would work well. It is great to show a focus fabric, and it's easy!

Wanted to post a picture of the main fabric I'd like to use. Please excuse the wrinkles, I had pre-washed it. :) I'm thinking of maybe pulling the oranges and blues to go with it?
