I had that problem with mine and found out I put the wrong brand of needle in the machine, that was an easy fix

Our local shop charges $79.95 just to look at a machine.

Just picked my machine up becasue the power went off. Wrong fuse! Since I have only taken it to authorized Janome service shops, I wonder who did it! That cost $35.00 for that and recalbrating my screen. It was in the shop in December for the recalibration and that cost $70.00. The prices are all over the place, so I wish wish you well. I have no idea what your repair will run.

I guess I am lucky because my repairs sre free via my hubby. It amazes me how cheap the parts and how expensive labor is. Makes you want to take a sewing machine repair class.

If you have a mechanical machine (not electronic) we have the virtual vintage sewing machine shop here on this board to learn how to service your own machines. Billy and helpers can show you how to take your machine totally apart and re-assemble it so it is all oiled and ready to sew! Check it out on the main page at the very bottom. There is so much we can do ourselves on the older vintage machines.

Don't like to be a kill joy, but I think it will be about $100.00. Used to know a lady who had the same thing go wrong, don't remember what she was given for a price. But she didn't get it fixed. Good luck and I hope I am WAY OFF and it's only $10.00. Holding a good thought for you

Did you know if you ran the thread down the needle's groove it will go right in the needle's hole if the thread has a clean cut?

Depends on your repair guy. My friend was quoted $500 to repair a machine, and told she would be better off replacing it with a new one.I took it to my repair guy and he charged $40 to clean out the lint and it works perfectly...
