Make quilts to keep, give away or charity?
#22
I have made quilts for all my children and grand and greats. Our guild makes quilts for our local Missouri Highway Patrol as when children are involved they give the child a quilt to help with the trauma.
I make quilts for weddings along with a set of matching pillow cases. Just finished one for me a dresden plate. Now have 4 of my own that I haven't given away. When I make one it is usually to give away.

I also give most of mine away, either as gifts or as donations to the needy or fundraisers. My two daughters each have two quilts I made, and now I have a son-in-law who is getting a t-shirt quilt this year. I own only about 3 quilts that I've made and two of them are wall hangings. The first bed-size quilt I ever made is on our bed, but is starting to wear out so I need to make a new one. I actually have a top pieced from blocks I won in my guild's BOM drawing, and just need to get it to the quilter so I can get it finished. We also recently did some home remodeling and painted the girls' bedrooms new colors, so now each of those rooms needs a new quilt too. Guess I'd better get busy!

Over the years I have given hundreds away to charities... but now enjoy making them for Quilts of valor, which is chairty... my daughter and grandbaby and gifts for her young mother friends. Some commissioned ones recently as well.

I quilt only over the winter months (too busy on the farm the rest of the year!). This year I made 16 quilts and finished 2 others for people that had pieced the tops. All my quilts are small...one was for my daughter, scrappy lap blanket from daughter's left overs for myself, and the others all went to nursing homes or to people who were home bound. :)

Maybe it's just me, but I usually make more than one of each design, so there is more to share!! This is one that I made recently to give to a raffle for a kid's program.
(I actually haven't kept any except my first.)
