Making a quilt with the chevron material "for a baby quilt"
I have been asked to make two different quilts using chevron purple for one and a blue for the other..with added embroidery within the quilt top. Does anyone have any idea on a pattern and .. Chevron material has me puzzles on how to put this together.
Would like your help.
Thanks
Jean

I have done a chenille baby quilt using chevron material on the back (size of stripes in chevron was about 1/2" or 3/4"). Not sure if this will appeal to you but here is tutorial link:http://www.aestheticnest.com/2011/11...e-blanket.html

Im starting one from the book Strip Smart Quilts II page 13. Recommended to use a special ruler. But I think you could use a 60 degree ruler and just make more blocks. I think using the chevron fabric would be ok if you make one no wider than WOF which might work for a baby quilt. Might look strange if it is pieced. I got my book from amazon. If you go to amazon and search for Kathy Brown you will see the book and you can look inside and it will show the yellow chevron quilt. I was fortunate to have someone give me the ruler. I think it is rather $$ . I also used it to make a herringbone quilt. I really like this book so plan on using the ruler several times. The ruler is the 90 degree double strip ruler

Fabric that has the chevrons already printed will be difficult to make look right in a pieced quilt top. My suggestion would be to make a simple top that has chevrons built into the pattern. The chevrons are basically just HST, so you could do large blocks of chevron alternating with blocks of plain for embroidery.
