I drew my pattern up on paper. Cut it out just outside the cutting lines, sprayed the pattern side with repositional adhesive, and affixed it to the acrylic so we could see the lines.
We used a radial arm saw my husband has in his shop. No special blade needed. Then I sanded it to smooth the rough edges. I traced on the acrylic with permanent ink to transfer the lines (which wasn't so permanent on acrylic). Put a layer of clear contact shelf paper over the top of the tracings so they wouldn't rub off and peeled off the paper pattern on the back.

Nice going. Looks great. Maybe I will make one now that you have come up with a new plan!

Nice job! You made it seem so simple. Thanks for the instructions on making the template. The Dresden is wonderful and will look perfect when sewn to the block.

You certainly came up with a good idea! Where there is a will there is a way!

Are you taking orders? Put me at the top of the list.

I don't understand why the store bought ones don't lay flat. Or is it just me?

Great job all the way around! What did you cut the acrylic with? It looks pretty thick. You did a great job with the template and I love the block!

That is a beautiful block. How long are the individual blades? I want to make one also and it calls for 20 blades. I am thinking less is better.
