Default What do I mark Golden Threads paper with????

I used a pencil and it stained my white thread grey from the graphite. Fortunately, I didn't quilt much and was able to remove what I did sew and remove most of the graphite stain from my top. What should I use to mark the paper so it doesn't discolor the thread?

I use washable Crayola markers to mark mine. If I am repeating the design, I draw it on one copy, then stack up multiple copies, tape them together and "sew" (without thread) the design onto the golden threads paper. Then I pin that to the quilt and follow the dots.

i use ceramic lead marking pencils- Fons & porter has one and (i think Streamline) has one- they come with different colors- green, pink, yellow, white, gray---the marks erase away, brush or wash---i've had good luck with them- fine lines- show up well & haven't had any problems with the color coming off on the thread- i've used lots of regular pencils over the years too (just like the ceramic ones because they stay 'fine-lined' are refillable) the pencil has always washed out of my finished projects- i'm surprised you had a problem- to me- pencil is the easiest markings to remove- i just wash my finished *quilted & bound* quilts and all marks are gone.

I saw a Youtube video that recommended using only the same markers you would actually use on a quilt top. That way if any marker gets transferred to the quilt top, or if tiny bits of the marker and paper get trapped underneath the stitching, you don't have a problem.
