Yes, I am!!! First, it was one other, then another joined us, and now next week there'll be 6 of us!!! ALL from this board!!! We really haven't set a schedule of what to do. Last time I showed them how to make Origami Christmas ornies with fabric. Next week, we're going to be shown how to make the folded Christmas balls. And the next meeting after that we're going to learn how to make folded star potholders. We're going to meet, talk, eat a lunch, and then craft. We may, as we go along, start taking our sewing machines. But who knows!!! It's fun! Oh, we're also extending hours. I'm sure, during a shop hop event, we'll be doing that together.

A few years ago I annonunced in church that we would be starting a group for quilters to meet and share ideas etc. There is 10 of us that meet at the church twice a month on Thurdays. In fact tomorrow we meet. Yeah!!!! We bring our machines and spend most of the day. Somethimes we do projects together and sometimes we work only on our own stuff. All in all it is fun.

There are five of us that like to do hand work too, so we set up an evening social time once a month to visit, do hand work, and exchange ideas, and of course show and tell. In between we might hook up with another one or two or three and go out for lunch and hit the LQSs

I joined the local quilters' guild to meet other quilters and found out they have about 12 quilting bees amoungst them. Some meet every week, some meet once a month. Some work on a project as a group, some work on individual projects but can help each other out if needed. The guild meeting is more business and guest speakers, the bees are for sewing.

Yes, please plan some get togethers with other quilters.
I have set up some meet and greets in Shipshewana, Indiana and we all met at a quilt shop, shop, shop, shop. If you call the quilt shops ahead of time some of them will have cool goody bags for the ones attending. Also I had called a restaurant ahead of time and we got the private room, no extra charge so we could eat, have show and tell and visitied for 2- 3 hours or so. Was a fun day.
You can set up events and post them on the offline section of the board to find other quilters that would love to attend. Have fun!

I used to get together with a friend and my mother in law once a week to quilt. My MIL and I were working on a quilt for my daughter, but if I had something else I needed to work on, I'd bring that. Our friend would work on whatever she had going.
We had a little tea and some snacks, and visited more than we sewed, some days, but I think it helped SO MUCH to have the extra input on things sometimes, and I would get something done on a day that I might not have felt like quilting on, otherwise.

Up until yesterday, I thought I was the only person in my town that was on this board. Then I found out that there are two others girls on here, snownannie and stipplingqueen. They belong to a quilt club here in town, and it meets this Monday, so I will be going to meet them. I'm so excited. And QuiltswithConvicts lives about two hours from me and we plan on meeting sometime soon. It's really nice having something in common when you meet someone new.
