if you need to mend to keep the body covered then should men. if you need some creative time or need a quilt to keep warm then the quilts gets the #1 vote. Divide them up. Do a bit of mending while sitting watching tv or other times when you need a break.

I rarely mend and hardly iron anymore unless it is quilting fabric. I have always hated wrinkles and ironed even things that weren't supposed to be ironed. Well, last spring I bought a blouse that is meant to be wrinkled and the tag clearly stated Do Not Iron. I figured it would be a challenge for me to wear and I needed a small challenge. I LOVE that blouse and will look for many more Do Not Iron ones. I guess I won the challenge. :)As for the shelves, your DH will probably make them for you whether you mend or not. So play with your stash.

Can't speak for you, but I would mend. I like to get all the "garbage" chores (such as mending ... YUK) done before I do the fun stuff ... the fun stuff is sort of a reward to myself for having completed chores. It seems the only way to get the chores to go away is to "bite the bullet" and do them.
Several helpful reminders about the needed shelves should do the trick. Guys see helpful reminders as nagging and they hate to be nagged.
