Mixing batik with cotton for rag quilt
I was thinking of doing a rag g
quilt that has a squares made of batik 5inch charm square that is surrounded by. 3.5 cotton strip on all four sides. The “x” or whatever I decide for sandwiching the layers. The cotton fabric would be ragging.
what are the cons of using batik?

It sounds as if you don’t plan on the Batiks being ragged so no reason to not go ahead. I mix Batiks with regular cottons and even cotton flannels. I love Batiks and probably at least 98% of my quilts include at least some.

Thanks ckcowl. I don’t plan to fray or rag the batik material - only the cotton that surrounds the batik square. I was thinking of using color catchers when washing. Not sure if batiks bleed?
