I am all over the map! I love primitive, and religiously buy the magazine. I love whimsical...animals, birds, applique. Working on a Farmers Wife. Have a labyrinth in the works. Make art quilts. Can't choose just one!

Whatever catches my fancy as pretty and new to me. I've done both and all are loved.

I just love making quilts and donating or giving away most of them. Don't know what they are called, not important to me.

I lean modern--I like bright fabrics or true colors, not tints or grayed colors, and love the negative space for quilting.

I can appreciate some of the modern quilts, but by far my Personal Preference is traditional with civil war and 30s fabrics as my favorite. I love applique but have done very little of it.

I have come to realize my two grown sons are Not into quilts........so for now on I will make for ME. The ones I have made and or rescued I pray, will find loving homes with other quilters who are younger and will appreciate them for many years to come.

Quilters are fabric artists whether we choose traditional patterns or colors over modern designs and hues. I love the look of antique quilts...there is a story to tell in every one. It is what drew me to making quilts to begin with (I won't say how many years ago!) But I have also learned to play with color and design. I like taking the leftovers from others and build quilts of my own. I love taking small bits of fabric and make something unique.

I understand exactly what you say, Madlady..Over the years I have discovered I think very symmetrical in my designs...As a fiber artist I want to explore an off center approach...to stretch my designing mind. I've never been able to draw, so quilting has become my artistic venue.

My favorite mindless sewing is to sew 9p's...then decide what to do with those 9P whether they measure 3/4" or larger!

I, too, love the drama aspect of a quilt. Drama can be acquired in either modern or traditional quilts; the fabric choices make all the difference. However, I seem to have a short quilt top making attention span, so quilts with a million little pieces do not make it to my sewing machine.

Sorry to sit on the fence here, but I love both. I have made both, and enjoy the process. Usually it is the color that calls me before the pattern.

In the wonderful world of quilting, I have found that I like all types of patterns. Remember the saying, "Variety is the spice of life."? I admire all types of quilting styles and enjoy trying them all.

This explanation is exactly my feeling as well. I could not have said it better. Thanks MadQuilter!
