How about log cabin???they look great monochromaticOriginally Posted by mooshie
So I've been thinking of doing a monochromatic quilt, but I don't know what kind of pattern would be good for this. I'm thinking of purple or pink and would use lots of different fabrics, many shades. I don't think bargello would work for what I'm thinking because the colors wouldn't exactly flow with the color gradient genrally desired in a bargello. Like I'd use purply pinks, and redish pinks, or bluish purples and redish purples etc. So I just don't think bargello is right for what I'm thinking, but does anyone know where I could look at some pictures of monochromatic quilts, or have any suggestions for monochrom patterns?

How about doing a chevron quilt, and perhaps using white for one section all the way across, and alternating your color scheme on the other rows.

the latest issue of quilt magazine has a pinwheel quilt with a monochromatic option on their website. Best part - free pattern!:

How about the classic timeless Churn Dash? Would look great in various shades of purples and pinks.
Or what about

Oooh! What is the name of the pattern for your 3rd photo - the flying geese/pinwheel quilt? I love it! I would like to make one for my nephew who is being deployed to Germany on Monday for 2 years. Thank you. Kathleen
