I need everyone to put their thinking caps on. I'm trying to organize my thread and bobbins together. My husband built me a beautiful peg board thread holder but the diameter of the dowel is too large for my bobbins. If I use a smaller dowel, it is too flimsy for the thread spool and too loose in the holes of the board. I don't have drawer space o store both thread and bobbin on pipe cleaners. I've googled it and watched LOTS of videos but it's just those pesky bobbins! We were thinking we might have to use a board and drill holes or use long finish nails. HELP!!!!

This is what I use. I like the idea of the spindle things that can hang on the wall, but I worry about dust. I've got about five of these and I love them. Each spool has its own section and several wound bobbins can fit with its proper color.

Sorry, I'll be no help at all. I gave up even trying and now all my bobbins just sit in little decorative bowls near the sewing machine. I find I don't really have any trouble matching them up to the spools when I need to use them - I have 2 bowls and I sort the bobbins into them depending on thread weight so they're slightly organized. I put little girl hair bungie things around them so they don't unspool and cause tangles.

I actually like having them there, I think they're attractive looking in their cute little bowls. My thread is stored away out of sight so it's a nice little splash of color on my white table next to my white sewing machine.

I just got couple bobbin cases. I have 2 machines so I labeled on the cases which bobbins went to which machines. I use to attach the bobbins to the thread with rubber bands but then I wanted a certain thread for the opposite machine. Actually works better and being in the bobbin case they don't come apart.

If the dowels are just a little too big for your bobbins, just take a piece of sandpaper and sand/polish the dowels, until the bobbins will fit onto them. If you put the spools beneath the bobbins, you'll only have to sand/polish the tops of the dowels.

I run a pipe cleaner through my bobbins, you could then make a hook and hang it on the dowel with the spool.

After trying several different methods that did not work for me, I store mine in a box like this, also. I use the little soft elastic pony tail holders to keep the bobbins neat. Bought those at a discount store in a little bag that has so many, I'll probably never use all of them

Glue a golf tee on the end of each dowel. The bobbin will easily slide on the tee. They come in different lengths, so you can choose the length you need. I've seen one like this , but can't find the picture.

You girls are all very organized. I have all my thread in baskets in my cabinets. I had a couple thread holders and in Arizona it is pretty dusty from the Cowboys so I have to keep under cover.
