I was given one of the lighted rippers as a present and retired it the first time I used it and kept dropping it and stabbing myself with it. It was very awkward to use.

Try the Havel 'scalpel type' seam ripper. It works the very best. Light weight and stays sharp.

And the ripper nose (the pointy thing) is so thick that it has a hard time getting between the stitches. Ugh, I am glad that I used a 50% off coupon for it. Waiting for the next coupon to buy a brand one. Any suggestions? Not a happy camper right now.
I have a clover seam ripper that I really like

I have one too. I bought it around ten years ago and it's still going strong. Cheap, effective...love it.

I have the F&P seam ripper too. I hate that it rolls off the table and also that the plastic cover does not fit or stay on. I use my smallest rotary cutter to do most of my seam ripping.

Like BellaBoo I have a Clover seam ripper and find they really do do the job. But never thought of putting a rubber band round the middle to stop it rolling - brilliant idea, thank you. I have a little pot by my sewing machine where I keep it together with some other invaluable (to me) things Like a old bead tube into which I throw my old needles, and a spare pair of scissors.

And your sewing machine dealer can order you another or 3 from the company that will be equally as wonderful. I covet my Pfaff seam rippers that I've had for almost 15 years now!

I had the Gypsy Grippers, large and mini, and they kept popping off. I had clean surfaces, so that wasn't it. I got rid of them.
