Oh, I use mine all the time. Has anyone made them from clothesline and fabric? That is how I make mine and it will absorb anything that drips from your glass or cup.

Just wrap strips of fabric around cotton clothesline rope and sew in a circle with a zigzag stitch. Done in no time! I will have to do a demo on it if anyone is interested.

You can make them as big as you want or as small as you want. These make the best hot pads to set a hot pan or dish on.

I am sure everyone would have hard time finding scrap fabric to use...:)

Yes!! I use them all over the living room. Love the size because it holds my coffee cup, and my thimble and finger cots when I take them off. My rugs used up some bright turquoise prints and black fabric. I also have a big leather chair at the cottage, and hated that huge mouse pad I had at the computer table. So tried one of these on the arm of the chair with my laptop on my lap, and voila! Made it perfect...the rug is just right for the arm of the leather chair and the mouse glides ever so smoothly over it. I am making lots for Christmas to give to my family and friends. What a great idea these are. Kudos to the person that thought these up!

I'm making mug rugs for all family and friends for Christmas, so yes, they better use them, at least when they know I'm going to show up :)

I would love a pictorial demo as the whole clothesline thing confuses me. How do you sew through it or are you just sewing edge to edge ... those sort of questions.

I love mug rugs and use them all over the house wherever my mug/water bottle go. I have also increased the size slightly and use them as plate mats on my wooden table to prevent scratches from my Pfaltzgraff dishes. Making them releases a lot of creative juices and everyone who sees them wants some!!! LOL

Have yet to make and use one. I thought I might see some at the guild's meetings, but not so far.
