I love my Bernina Aurora 440QE. Ask for a deal because they are a bit expensive but they last forever and are tough and easy to use. Dealers are usually very helpful. You'll never have to buy another machine.

I have a Elna machine and love it! Would not trade it for a brand new machine...sews beautiful!!

Honestly if you can find an older machine with the old type of bobbin holder, you are better off. I have an expensive Kenmore that spends a lot of time in the shop! My favorite machine is one I bought 20 years ago for under $200. It isn't the cost, it's what you want it to do!
