I know where you are coming from. I do patch my son's and grandson's jeans, but it is truly a labor of love, for I do not like patching. It is less onerous when I open the side seams! I was so thankful when I learned to zigzag the patches on without trying to turn under the edges.

The condition of some of the pants my husband wants patched are terrible!! I told him, "It's a sewing machine, not a miracle worker!" Small holes/tears I will do but when it gets to a certain point, I refuse! My husband just does not like shopping and that's why he'd rather wear a pair of jeans with a lot of patching!

I like to cut the leggs off at the widest area at the crotch. then fold a cuff at the bottom and put a strap for hanging and elastic the other end for one of thise baggs for saving and reusing shopping baggs. They can be embelished too denium holds up to If you have overalls the straps are cute on this kind of bag.

Bright red lips, pretty patchwork heart, cute iron on patches..these are some of the ways I used to patch my husbands jeans and hickory shirts. He doesn't ask much anymore.

I pick and choose but also have a DH who doesn't understand or have any desire to become interested in my hobby. But then, I have no desire to become interested in his hunting hobby. We do other things together.

A neighbor gave me a suit to fix to fit her last month. I would reather make the whole suit than rip and fix this one. Patching is out for sure. I always made, patched , and altered all my family's clothes, but I hated it. I love to make quilts

Oh what a hoot, I love it and may just pull that one on my DH, he is so good to work on any machine that I have or fix things, but he does tell people how I have all these machines and he still has holes in his jeans! thanks for the AM laugh

Why don't you patch them with a flower or cartoon character, maybe that would stop him from asking. I really dislike sewing, just quilting is what I have started doing and really think I have forgotten to even know how to hem. - J
