Nothing hard to do, just a hem and a couple of seams, but still. She was shocked at what the cleaners wanted to fix them. I told him, ok, this time, but don't do it again. We'll see how that works out.
She would have been even more shocked at what I would have quoted her, lol. I couldn't have fixed them, but my cleaners could, and I would charge double. And you should smack your hubby.

I agree. My husband is always complaining That I'll piece a quilt top but he has to wait forever for his pants to be shortened. But I don't shorten my pants either. I take them to the tailor. I only have a limited amount of time to sew and I'm not wasting it sewing hems!

For some people they seem to prefer the ragged, patched stuff. Part of the grunge look I suppose but I don't like it and I will not do it. My mom would never have let us out of the house looking like some I see today! It is a disgrace!

When I quit sewing clothes, I quit altering or repairing them. I won't even hem SO's new pants, make him take them to the tailoring shop.

I will patch DH pants if they aren't too old. otherwise they go in the grease rag bag. same for my one SIL. He does some carpenter work and I want to keep him happy so if I need some shelving or something put up he will do it.

My husband's painter pants always needed patching at the knees... another perk of retirement...!
