Last week, I brought out a few zip lock bags of scraps that were given to me by a friend. I cut some black pieces, about one inch square, but not square, and began sewing pieces around it, log-cabin style. Nothing is square. If it was I cut it wonky. I kept going until I had a piece 9 and 1/2 inch square. I did it chain-sew style, and started 24 of them. I have 14 of them finished. I will sash this with the black to match the center square.

One of these squares has 36 or 37 pieces in it. It's really hard to count. I won't count any of the others. LOL

This is a great thread with lots of good ideas. I package my small pieces in plastic bags and send them to one of our thrift shops that has a special section for sewing/craft items. They are gone in a few days so someone has a use for them. We should remember that dryer sheets and coffee filters are highly flammable.

I cut my stash down to the largest square possible or make strings out of them. I have zip lock bags with the same size squares in each and a whole drawer of strings.

Lots of great ideas, I have a hand-quilting hoop with a pillowcase clamped in it for my fabric waste/threads right by my cutting table. Works out great. I only throw in small bits of fabric as I love to paperpiece and save all scraps for that At least until I deem it tooooo small to even paperpiece something with it.
