Need advice/opinions please!

I love your runner. Very pretty. I have a comment though. Make sure you wash the denim as many times as it takes for the water to be clear. I would hate for it to bleed onto your top when you wash it. Some denim doesn't bleed too bad & other denim does. You probably knew that but thought I would mention it.

If you had not mentioned the stars, I would never have noticed!!
very light weight flannel would work, or a light weight pellon. You might even get the fusible kind. At any rate, I think you would need to secure your layers. Any kind of fusible might be ideal for that--bond the top to the back with the snow white fusibles?
So far as binding, what about a dark navy blue cotton?
The table runner is just beautiful :-D

I think the fleece is a good idea and agree with others who suggest binding in red. What if you were to free motion a meandering star pattern in the braids and a single star in the center? Maybe you could put a star in a star in the center.

For table runners and place mats, I use a thin fleece. My LQS carries it, it is a little less expensive and lays nice and flat for me on the table. And it doesn't have enough bulk to lets plates and such wobble.
