Lovely table runner, I have used that pattern, I like how you fussy cut the squares! Great look. I have read the suggestions on the batting and think flannel is fine to use after it has been washed and dried. Binding with the read or even navy blue would be very attractive. Good Luck, post when you have finished.

The denim needs to be washed and dried at least THREE times, also it keep the shrinkage and staining at a minimum.
    Your table runner is WONDERFUL!
So inspiring, that I am thinking about picking up the pattern so I can make table runners for the Post and each of our local nursing homes ... And, your idea of flannel is an excellent idea especially as you understand that the thickness effects how things sit on the fabric. Diaper flannel is a closer weave, so even less chance of the white becoming dingy looking ... (just personal preference <g>).
    GOOD JOB! <wave>
