I recently made a diaper bag for my niece and used the plastic material that companies are making their signs out of. It's a honeycombed pattern between two thin sheets of plastic, much like cardboard, and will hold up to anything. Being in a diaper bag I was afraid something might spill and ruin cardboard or foam board. I made a slip sleeve for it so it can be removed for washing. Found some at an art supply store. Didn't check a hardware store.

Lots of great suggestions.
But a couple more:
Try using Timtex or Peltex. You can sew through it and it is washable. Not as hard as the other suggestions, but does firm up the bottoms of bags.
You can also buy, or have cut, acrylic inserts for bags. The "Lazy Girl Designs Bag-E-Bottoms" are pre cut, with rounded corners in sizes that are designed for the Lazy Girl patterns. But one of the women in one of my Bag Lady Clubs has the local hardware store cut plexiglass to measure for her bags. Add a sleeve so that you can remove the acrylic, even be able to use the same acrylic piece in more than one bag. <G>

Forget about the bottom of the purse, I WANT THAT POODLE DOG!!!!!! in your Avater....... He Or she is adorable. Must be a minature? I had a smoke colored poodle for 17 years when my kids were growing up and he was one of my 2 boys!! His name was Cognac and he was such a wonderful little guy. We lost him when a German Shepard came into our yard, up on the deck and mauled him so badly we had to have his right rear quarter operated on. Six weeks later after he had healed, the same *%$#@#$% shephard got him again and the vet said he wan't make it thru the anesectic (sp) this time. Those poodle dogs are Gods gift to man, they are so loyal, so happy that they are a part of your family and so darn smart. I hope you have him or her for a long time and good luck with the purse bottom!!!
