I have never made a scrappy quilt, and I guess I am not ready to try. I am going to abandon this fabric and make this next charity quilt out of fabric I already have. I will be much happier cutting out my own strips than trying to use these.

Thanks for all your suggestions, and I am going to use at least one of these patterns, but not the fabric.

In fact, let me take a picture of what I have and you will see why I have made this decision...maybe. You can probably see possibilities that I can't. I am going to give the fabric to my sister, the committee chairman, to either put back in the grab bag selection (there are two more meetings where quilters can select grab bags) or maybe she can do something with it. She is an expert experienced quilter. I am not.

With all the time I have spent worrying about these strips, I could have already made a quilt top. The other grab bag was fun to play with. This one isn't, at least not for me.

Off to look at my stash ...
Gosh, I really like these fabrics - if you want to send them my way, I'd be happy to piece something for you - just let me know size, when need to be finished, etc. PM me if you'd like me to make something with them.

The scrappy strip quilt would be the easiest and fastest.

I made a quilt with mismatched strips for my deployed grandson. Mine were an equal width, but they didn't need to be. (2 1/2 x 8 1/2) Without the stars in the sashing, it would have a been an easy, fast quilt. Just sew the strips together and alternate directions when placing on design wall.

Okay, ladies, again you have built my confidence. If you don't find the fabrics and the challenge that awful, maybe I can still do this.

I will revisit this quilt later. Maybe that is my problem. I have three ready to sandwich now, one is the charity quilt I finished already. I will look at these pieces after I do those.

Montanajan, thanks for the offer to piece them for me. That is too kind, but sure makes me feel good. :)

Irishrose, the quilt you sent ...without the stars...might be something I can wrap my mind around. Thanks.

Again, thanks to all of you. I will just put this on the back burner for now.

I would cut them into strips - 2 and 4" and make strippy quilts. I enjoy ding this type of quilt occasionally to clear my head. They are easy and fun and can be somewhat creative.

How about ...
* Jelly Roll 1600?

* Nine Patch? with the narrow strips and then the wider ones could be sashing between (assuming you have the colours and lengths that will work)

I agree with all of the above! Any of those sound like good ideas!

Log cabins and rail fences are good! A quilt is a reminder to rebuild and you're not alone in having to do so!!

You can use the longer strips to make three or four strip rail fence blocks and use the shorter ones to sew together for a piano key border.
