My daughter is in the army. I made her a patriotic girl quilt this last summer using red/white/blue fabrics some striped/stars and some white/red flowers or blue/white flowers. The theme came across just fine. There are also some very cool vintage pieces of fabric (someone here is using a bit in their avatar) that resemble vintage postcards supporting the military. EBAY is a great source for that. Also you can pick up via ebay (also other spots I am sure) some fabric say a vintage pillow from a certain fort (ie the one they went to basic at or are stationed at). I bought an old pillow and cut the Fort Jackson part out and used that in a framed tribute to my daughter. She loves her quilt. Find a military supply site, you could do a tshirt quilt with fronts from the mottos? I think you can represent the theme without it being specifically an Army quilt. You could embroider a block to be installed in the quilt with the name, dates, rank, service, etc .. a baby quilt. Best rank :) but maybe Private Whatever the last name is, dated birth, weight etc would be cute to ad. Parents would like that.

bits of camo is not a bad idea, if its a girl baby they make some cute pink camo you could add in or back it with and boys tons of camo.. hearts cut out of camo material could be cute for a girl too.. again boys its so easy, planes, tanks etc.. of course babies dont care too much about that .. its for the parents. Babies just want to stay warm and be loved. I am sure whatever you decide on will be a happy quilt for the baby. How about checking out the quiltsforkids pics here (do a search) and then just modify your design with the types of fabrics?
