I know someone that made a memory quilts from her dad's shirts that were appliqued as maple leafs onto a white background. It was really nice and she said it helped her with her healing process.

Good luck on your project.

welcome from central Ohio. Sorry for your loss, I too have lost my mom and it is hard. I made a memory quilt for a woman who's son died. He went to college in Mich. so I used material in those colors, and used photos. I found it easy, and she loved it.

I made a quilt for my DH so it's not really a memory quilt but I'll describe the things I put on and maybe this will help with your list. In the center block I appliquéd 2 wedding bands & embroidered Families are Forever; other blocks are - a German flag; a Berlin flag; a Canadian flag; a ship; 2 eagle blocks; an appliquéd bike; an appliquéd barbell set. To show where he was born - where he chose to move to - what his favourite things are.
Enjoy your healing process, a wonderful way to share your memories of your Mom.

Great, I can use the Italian flag. Did not think of that one. It helps very much to put something like a quilt together. It does make you cry though. What else is new. Thank you for sharing.C

I would start with a list of your loves and memories of her. This list may help if you are unable to find specific fabrics.
