I take the ties apart, put them into a mesh laundry bag & toss into washer/ dryer. They come out fine. Then I use a lightweight fusible interfacing to stabilize them . Latest use- turned out wonderful- were woven pillows. The ties I used were All Silk ties.

I saw another idea for using the scraps once done with your necktie project and I think I may utilize this one. Use a scrap to put into a very small hoop to embellish as a Christmas ornament. I still have some of my father's ties that I think I will do this and add one of his tie tacks as an embellishment --keepsake gift to his grandchildren.

My friend Christine Copenhaver wrote a book called Necktie Re-invented it is on Amazon and you can look inside. I am not pushing the book just telling you about a wonderful resource. She would bring a lot of the quilts to our guild as she made them. Any quilt block can be made from neckties if you want. The instructions for cleaning and taking apart are included. I have my father-in-laws ties for "someday."

I made a quilt for my DSD out of ties and made it in Dresden plates . She wanted pictures in the middle of them . I just took the ties apart and put them in a net bad and washed them and dried them in the dryer. They turned out great .
