I also have both the Gidget 1 and 2. I have the 2 set up in my sewing room and I use two different machines with it. Since it's a bit of a pain to raise and lower the shelf for the machine (which involves either flipping the heavy table over or getting down underneath it on the floor, neither of which I'm particularly excited about), I made a wooden platform that I place onto the shelf and put one machine on top of, and the other machine I use without the extra platform. I hope that makes sense, if not let me know.

I have a Gidget 1 and 2...1 having a smaller hole for my vintage singers and sewing machines. no. 2 has larger opening for my Husq SE and Epic...what I did was trace the arm and body of the machine onto paper and then traced onto form board and cut it out which fits perfectly to make an even insert surface...So I didn't have to pay big bucks for a acrylic insert...

I know that you will think that this is weird, but---I use an old computer table. My "Big Bertha" machine sits on the part where the keyboard would go. My DH stabilized that lower level so that the machine is level with the 5 foot long table. Works like a charm and cost $15 when the college was getting rid of the tables. I also use an adjustable computer chair (garage sale find). Guess you can call me frugal!! A SewEzi table at cottage---adjusts wonderfully---only need one small quilt book under the machine to get it to the perfect height. (estate sale for $20). Check out estates sales--I have found a Huge (40" x 70") quilting mat ($35) and a cutting table with drawer and sides that found down ($40)--needed a bit of repair but DH did that.
