Decorative stitches, oh yeah!
I have used decorative stitching for quilting and have been pleased with the results. I made "Hot Diggety Dog" and by using Quilt As You Go, I quilted each block differently, by hand, machine, and decorative stitches too.

These are my thoughts. If you do straight line thru the corners of blocks, and you miss the corner it shows. The serpentine stitch is very forgiving and if you miss the corner it is because you are in a curve.

http://mquilts.blogspot.ca/2012/10/blog-post.html I did a scrappy quilt with my walking foot, just like she did on the inside of her blocks, It's really fun and easy, kind of half moon on the right, then do half moon on the left, going down the line. You can make your hlf moons as wide as you like, just making them consistent.
