Need suggestions on Manly quilt patterns

Last summer I made a quilt for the homeless shelter for veterans in Clare, MI, using Warm Wishes with the focus fabric of deer in fall, picking up 3 colors from from the focus fabric. They really liked it.[ATTACH=CONFIG]545542[/ATTACH]

I totally agree with Tom--the fabric choice is more important than the pattern in making a quilt look feminine, masculine, kiddie, etc. For a man I just wouldn't use a flower basket, grandmothers flower garden or fan pattern. I really like Suzanne57's warm wishes. I have made several quilts using that pattern and have never been disappointed.

Simple Manly Quilts

This is a simple churn dash (or monkey wrench) quilt I made for my son, from shirts and homespuns.

This is Jenny Doan's Double Slice Layer Cake pattern. My son-in-law chose this pattern himself for his quilt.

This one is also a very simple block made from shirt strips.

I agree that the choice of fabrics is what distinguishes a manly quilt (or gender neutral).
The wedding quilt (couch throw) that I'm doing now is one I would consider gender neutral because of the woodsy look.
You can see it in the pictures section "Wedding quilt for a friend".
The blocks alternate rail fence and 4 patch or 9 patch. Very easy! I just kept adding borders till it was big enough as I no longer had more of all the fabrics.
The post is actually titled "quilt for a friend's wedding"
