Thanks for all the suggestions and input. So with ya'lls help I've decided to go white around the pp'ng and will go with an old gold in the pp'ng. I may even put a little gold inside the red big stitch stars, we'll see. Need to the gold, but started on the white since I have some. Hope to finish end of month. Once again thanks for the advice. Mary

On looking at the whole picture, I too would use white on all of the background areas.

Love what you have done so far!! If I was quilting this quilt for you, I would match the thread to the color I was quilting on to keep your beautiful stars and snowflakes at the center of the stage.

I think I would use colors that blended in so I could make your beautiful work be the main focus. With the colored stars I would probably do a STID so it wouldn't compete and maybe some sort of echo stitch inside and out of your red stars, again highlighting them. Very different looking quilt, but very, very nice and your borders tie it together very well.

Very late reading my mail, and this page. Have you thought about using a silver or gold metallic thread for the stars? Maybe a quarter inch inside each star or start at the center and do lines radiating out towards the tips of each arm. Beautiful work so far. Really outstanding.
