There is a new Wilmington fabric print out. It has a panel with baby fox, lamb, rabbit and duck with the saying” twinkle twinkle little star, do you know how loved you are?” It has companion fabrics and borders. Very sweet!

I did an adorable fox and raccoon quilt for a baby recently. The pattern is on Etsy from SewFreshQuilts. My daughter like it so much, she bought the fabric for me to do one for her. Note the pattern is designed for perfectly cut fat quarters. I had to buy more fabric. Look at the cutting directions carefully, and measure your fabric carefully before deciding how much you need.

Someone suggested a panel so I went snooping on Spoonflower...came up with this. It is made up of 6" blocks, so you can cut them out and make it up with other 6" blocks of fabric. Plus, shipping to Canada was only $3.00!
Thanks, everyone...some really good idea here and I will look into the 3 yard 3 fabric idea.
OnebyOne, that turned out really nice.
Tartan, that Wilmington fabric is darling.
CanoePam...that is so-o-o cute! If I hadn't already ordered I may have done that.

My first thought was also one called "Fancy Forest" by Elizabeth Hartman. ALL of her patterns are pieced only, no applique. Fancy Forest has bunnies, owls, foxes, hedgehogs, butterflies, and some trees. Maybe you could also incorporate a bear and a moose (which could easily be a deer). She also has another one that might fit the bill called "Delightful Desert". Regardless of the name, all the critters look like they could live in a forest.

No help on the Woodland Theme, but I can tell you that last 4 baby quilts I have made were all applique. They were all for my nieces babies, and I have seen them used and washed, and they have held up. I did fused raw edge, then did a decorative stitch around the edges. I would not hesitate to use applique in a baby's quilt again.

This is a michael Miller panel from several years ago I found on etsy. No applique. I fmq the shapes of the animals in the black and filled in around so it hints. Mom was extatic . As a matter of fact - when I went by a few months later - it wasn't in the kids bed- it was on the couch for decor and tv snuggles
Panel is Norwegian woods

Check out Lorna McMahon's patterns. I've made a few of hers and her patterns are super accurate. No applique, all pieced. Plus she's a Canadian designer. https://www.etsy.com/shop/SewFreshQuilts
Here's a link to Lorna's blog, for anyone who is curious.

Watson ... Great choice! Love the positive messages in there as well.
Hopefully, you have some stash fabrics for those 6" coordinating blocks.
