Hi GrannieAnnie....

I bought this set from Amazon (this is a shortened link to it) : http://fave.co/X00ZvM ... just to get the one flathead.

It is shorter than the white handled screwdrivers that come with many machines.

While we're on this topic, does anyone know where I can get a needle plate screw for my Janome 6500?? Yes, somehow, while cleaning out the bobbin area, one of my screws disappeared. I looked everywhere, multiple times: no luck. Now my needleplate rattles like heck when I'm sewing!

Thanks!

Jory

A dime works really well for this purpose.

Can't help with the screw, but would it help to tape the needle plate down until you can come up with a replacement?

I bought a set of "z" shaped screwdrivers at Lowe's and it is one of my favorite tools! Nothing beats having the right tool for the job and the expense is well worth it. froggyintexas

Try Amazon. There are all kinds of sewing machine equipment stores there. froggyintexas

Only about 1 1/2 inches high and works perfectly on my Brother and Pfaff.
I have one of these as well - my go to for all things needing a screwdriver.

Any dealer ... if you don't have one close by, it's certainly something that could be mailed easy enough to you.
