New craft room

I've been looking at pics of sewing/craft rooms that have been posted here. I have gotten some ideas from them that are really good. My dh is starting to build an add-on to our house that will be 14' x 16'. He said that it will be my room for all my crafts and sewing. Anyone have any DO's or DON'T's suggestions.....maybe from your experience with such an addition? I want it to be my dream room....but I must be as frugal as possible. I am soooo excited!

I think tile or linoleum flooring is the best. If you drop something you can grab a Swiffer or damp rag real quick, wipe over the area and find it. Also, just easier to keep clean.
Lots of counter space with knee holes. I would use a light color for the counter tops. Windows and lots of lighting is good also.

Yeah. Multiple lighting sources so you have OVERHEAD lighting wherever you may work.
If you will have "closet space" make sure the closet is lit.
More storage space than you think you need.
A "work area" for actual sewing.
A "cutting area" for actual cutting.
A "staging area" for trying out block combinations, like a design board
An "ironing area". In a perfect world, you'd have a dedicated space for each, and not have to play Fabric Jenga to work.
I'd say the storage spaces should have different sizes...like a space for FQ, a space for yardage, a space for tubs. You'd hate to get stuck with 100 cubbies that don't work for you, kwim?
And pics. We want pics. :D

How sweet of DH!! I do not have my own room yet but if you are someone who likes to rearrange furniture often then I would suggest storage that is moveable, not built into the wall.
