It has been a surprise to me how well it works! I was wanting a mid-price Janome at some point, but DH brought this home for my birthday. He was so pleased with himself -- he had read a lot of positive online ratings on the CS6000 before he got it, but he knows nothing about sewing machines. I had no idea he was looking. All I'd told him once was "some day" I'd like a better machine than my 25-year old Kenmore. And his selection has been a good one! I do wish the throat was bigger because I want to learn FMQ and I'll be limited to what I can shove through there. But if I need to upgrade in the future I'd consider Brother again as well as Janome and Kenmore.

My daughter has a friend who does a LOT of machine quilting. She buys a $99 Kenmore machine and a service contract and then uses the tar out of it. If it breaks within the service contract it is covered, if not when the contract runs out and she figures she has had plenty of use out of it she just buys another just like it and goes on her merry way.
