I've been an avid quilter since 1979. My first quilt was a trip around the world for a queen size bed which I had first yarn tied and then went back to it and hand quilted it. Since then I have hand quilted all my quilts except one. That was a baby quilt that I machine quilted and realized I LOVE to hand quilt. I did not keep count of how many I've made and given away. I am currently hand piecing my second Grandmothers Flower Garden for a Queen Bed. I have a Baby Jane in progress since April, 2005. It is also all hand pieced which I can take almost anywhere!
Most of my quilts are made for my family as I know they appreciate them. I do give some as gifts but I'm very selective.
My main problem is too many fabrics, not enough time!

Well, it's kind of hard to answer. I made my first quilt about 16 years ago - a full sized, all hand cut (no rotary knowledge back then) triangles. Did not do a very good job on it, but my dd loves it and still sleeps with it. I also made a few table toppers at the time. I made my second quilt about 6 years ago - a rail fence that actually came out pretty good, except for a major mistake that some think is deliberate :). I finally now have time to get back to quilting seriously and learning much more about the different techniques. So, I won't say I've been quilting for 16 years, nor would I say that I've been doing it for 6 years. I'd have to say that I just started this February - so - 2 months :D I'm working on my second quilt right now, finished my first the 3rd week of April, and have two more in progress.

ETA I've been sewing since Jr. High school when my sister taught me to sew (mid-70's, so over 30 years). For many years, I made all my dds' clothes. Put my sewing machine in cold storage when my ex left and I had to go back to work full time. Pulled out again for good just this year.
