    Default Machine quilting with frame

I am trying out my machine quilting frame. It has been a very stressful experience at first. We figured out we needed to use a different foot. One issue I am having needle keeps bending and breaking and press peddle keeps coming unplugged also thread breaking. If any one has any tips for me I have up to 5 quilts to quilt with this. I am pulling my hair out. I need two done on later than Saturday night. I am not going to let this beat me. I am off to the store to but more needles.

well good luck with this. I am just starting to experiment with my quilting frame and juki. I go in a few hours every day and mess with something and I too was having problems and broke 2 needles so I took a break. went in yesterday and reset the speed controller and rerolled the practice fabric and just played without thread or needle. Today I am going to read the instructions and set the tension and play around some more. Trying to make a daily effort to learn more of it but I do not spend all day to stress about it. Huge learning experience for me but determined as I have alot of tops made and want to quilt myself. Good Luck

If you are breaking needles it is probably because you are moving the machine a bit too fast. If the needle is not all the way out of the fabric and you move it, it catches the fabric and can bend the needle. It only takes a tiny deflection in the needle to hit the foot and break. Also, what kind of foot are you using?

I am confused press pedel? Do you mean foot pedel? Never heard of a foot pedel when quilting on a frame.

I have to use the pedal from the machine to control my machine. I have this thing that was given to me with the frame called sure stitch but of course it don't work with my seeing machine. I think you are right we need to slow down and it should help I wet out last night and bought 20 needles to make sure I don't run out lol.

You really need to use the sure stitch. Your machine was not designed for a frame. You might want to take a look at
some of the machine out there that are made for your frame. Be careful and do not break your singer trying to use her on the frame. I really do not think you are going to have enough space in the throat of your machine to handle rolling the quilt. Hope all goes well!

you can free motion with a regular machine you need to lower feed dogs and use a free motion quilting foot. Why is it coming unplugged maybe you need a extension cord so when you move your machine it does not come unplugged.

I do not think an extension cord will help on the frame as she has to use the foot pedel and that will not be able to move freely.
