I usually butt the pieces together and then sew them with a faggoting stitch to make a large piece. After quilting, no one notices the difference. if they are very small I save them for trapunto work or to stuff appliques.

My niece is making a quilt from her boyfriend's old jeans. She is cutting all the squares 8", and will back each square with flannel square, sandwiched with a 7" square of batting, sew an X across them, then put them all together, rag style, with the seams up.

I use them for Quilt as you go. Small pieces work perfectly.

Sorry but what is batting tape? Not something I have seen for sale here in the UK but have several pieces of batting about 2 oe 3 foot wide and would like to use them.
Batting tape is a lightweight fusible strip that is fairly new. You can use lightweight pieces of interfacing for the same purpose. But if your batting is polyester it is not good to iron it with heat.

You can also zig zag your pieces together with a large machine stitch or whip stitch them by hand.

    It all works.

small batting pieces can be put into a pillowcase or some other product then stitched shut for pet beds. Check with your local vet clinics, animal shelters, etc. They would love to have

You can make pet beds and stuff them with small batting pieces.

A hint from my LQS -- use a small dry erase white board to practice free motion quilting (stippling, feathers, etc) before going to fabric. Use small batting pieces as white board erasers.

thanks purrfect quilts. I have been butting and whip stitching but being self-taught and new to quilting I wondered if I was doing the right thing.
