I think they're on the wrong track here. If I shop for fabric, I'm looking for specific amounts that won't fit into their 2-yard cut concept. Hope they don't do that here. Right now, we have no fabrics at all at our Wal-mart, and, as a result, our LQS is doing a much better business. It's not all bad.

I don't shop W-M either for the reason already given BUT I might stop there next time just to see.. it's not very likely I would buy a 2 yard piece.
The reason W-M doesn't have fabric by the yard is because it would take an associate on duty to cut it. W-M's overhead won't allow someone there all the time to wait on customers. IF there was someone assigned to fabrics they would also be covering 5 other departments so good luck getting anyone to cut for you.

Our Walmart is getting in bolts of fabric now. It is about $4 and $5 a yard and nice quality. It will be awhile before they are back to where they used to be, but they do have something to buy and are trying. I went to Joann's and Hobby Yesterday - bad trip, just nothing I wanted and their prices are way too high! I hate to think that fabric is going to be gone soon, but the price will put them out of businss.

In our town, we only have one Walmart and several years ago they took out their full service fabric department. just recently, they have put back a cutting table, fabrics on the bolt , all the things you use like pins, scissors, etc. as good as before but not quite as large. They had some very nice material when I was in there a few days ago.

I went to the Wal-Mart in Somers, Wi. simply because I saw on
WM web site, that they were selling fabric, 2 yards for '$7.00. I do a lot of crib qilts. 2 yards is perfect to make 2 crib quilts. They advertised it to be 45' wide. That was correct, but the only 2 yard pieces for $7.00 was flannel. Don't use flannel for crib quilts. Then I saw a package that said 2-1 yrd pieces.
This was not hanging bu jppls at tje
Web Site indicated. However had it been what I was looking for, If they had infant designs, I would buy. I ended up buying an infant panel for $2.00 and another yard at $2.00 per yard for making apot HOLDERS. Soon I will have another quilt blovk .
