My favourite is Hobbs 80/29 fusible quilt batt. I don’t like the smell or over spray from 505 and of course the expense.

I have been a big 505 fan for many years, it works really well, no gumming of the needle, and I have been very happy with the product itself. The only drawback to me is its price. I recently discovered Beacon value adhesive spray at the local dollar store. I tried it and have been very happy with it, 2 ounces for $1. I have basted 4 throw size quilts, and 3 baby quilts with it without any issues. I did iron both my top and backing after spraying each layer to be sure it was dry prior to stitching on my machine.

I still backup with pins but not nearly as many.
