I love sewing for my kids and grankids, but they understand about the time factor. My four and five year old granddaughters are already requesting Halloween costumes. Now, they plan ahead!!
When I sew for my kids, they offer to come over, help with laundry, cook dinner, and buy the fabric. I trained them from an early age.

I get calls from quilters asking how busy I am and if I can squeeze in "a small quilt" because they are leaving in 3 days. When I started quilting, I made a rule, do them in the order you get them. It's only fair. Some people make charity quilts and think I should quilt them ahead of all the others I have. It's frustrating to tell them I can't do that.

I posted yesterday, but I guess we should be flattered that we make it all look so easy. And be able to say the word "NO" when necessary. That last part does not come easy for me.

You don't even need to make a telphone call on her behalf.
Your plate is full. Tell her you can not do it, and are not intersted in doing it.
Nothing more needs to be said or done.

Over the weekend I was putting together the fabric pieces for the YBR I'm working on for my mom, and my husband had been observing my "auditioning" which strip to match up with another and he said wow I had no idea this quilting was so involved.

I'm convinced if they don't do it they have no idea at all as to the time involved.
